"Do you think watching television would likely enhance children's cognitive/language/social development?"

Positive Effects of  Television on Children!!

Most of people think that television is both good and bad things. So, I researched about how do you think about television on children. Many people thought that television has more good things than bad things. I know that it is bad influences on children, sometimes.

However, it shows us many educational, family, sports, news, documentaries, cultural, all around the world situations, and many good information. So, many people can get many information from the television. some of them said that television is very useful as a medium for knowing news across the world and can open up new worlds for children.

It can have multiple positive impacts on the children. Also, it can help the them to build and develop imaginary skills and role playing ideas. They can adopt and copy the behaviors they witness on television, and when these behaviors are rewarded on television, they see them as positive and something they would like to model.

Family values can also be exemplified through television viewing, as can positive behavior, morals, and decision-making skills, so it can help children develop good habits. Television increases a children’s cognitive and growth, and it is important to monitor what children watch on television, as it can have positive effects on them. Communicating with children about what they watch is key to understanding what is going through their head.

According to Uttara Manohar, even talk shows like Dr. Oz and Oprah can help children learn about in depth issues that their parents may not have knowledge about. Also, Carey Bryson who is children Movies and TV Guide in About.com Guide states that parents can challenge children to read a book with the promise of going to the theater or renting the movie when they finish it or children may see a movie and like it so much that they decide to read the book. And then they discuss the differences between the book and the movie to help kids develop thinking skills.

  1. I find T.V. a helpful way to learn. When I was in middle school I would watch "the magic school bus," every morning before school and I learned something new from every episode and sometimes I would talk about it in my science class. T.V. is not very healthy to watch all day, every day because children need physical activity through out the day to get all that natural excess energy they have. Also T.V. is very entertaining and helps keep children attention most of the time.

  3. To be honest, I'm a fan of television. I watched television 2-3 hours every day when I was young. Looking back the time I spent in the TV, I think I learned plenty of knowledge from television, even from soap opera.
